Update on Use of Shawnee Parks and Facilities
Posted on Mar 22nd, 2020

This update is current as of March 22 2020.

The Shawnee Civic Centre, Shawnee Town 1929 and Shawnee Town Hall will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Following the guidance of Johnson County, all Shawnee Parks & Recreation programs and facility rentals have been cancelled through Friday, May 1st. If you are registered for a program or have a rental scheduled, staff will be in contact with you regarding refunds and transfers.

Parks and trails are still open. We encourage families to use parks and trails without congregating in groups of ten or more and while practicing recommended social distancing. While we recommend use of trails and open park space, we do not recommend playground use. Unfortunately, our playgrounds are not sanitized daily.

All the staff at Shawnee Parks & Recreation are disappointed and miss seeing all our participants each day. We are working through this fluid process to pass along any new information and developments to you. For more information regarding city services affected by COVID-19, please visit us online

Thank you,

Tonya Lecuru
Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation
